Zine section in Library opening in Maryland

Greetings, friends -

The BCPL Zine Collection at Cockeysville website is up. Watch for changes in the coming weeks at:

www.bcpl.info/zines

And it's just over three weeks until our Reading/Opening which is at 6:30PM on October 13, 2005 at the Cockeysville branch. The event will include food, browsing from 6:30-7:00, and short readings by local zine authors from 7:00-8:30. Readers include China Martens (The Future Generation), Sean Stewart (Thoughtworm), Davida Gypsy Breier (Xerography Debt, Leeking Ink), William P. Tandy (Smile, Hon, You're in Baltimore) and Dan Taylor (The Hungover Gourmet).

This is a great bunch of writers, a chance to meet other local folks with an interest in zines, and the first day items from our (really quite nifty) collection will be available for checkout. Plus the Cockeysville library is worth a visit in general, as we have a big, diverse collection that manages to impress us everyday (and we work here!)

forward this widely, bring a friend, and see you then!

Oh wonderful!

I love it when libraries are open to having a zine section. it should be mandatory! :) how would i/can i donate my mommy zine titled, Mucous Plug?

i looked on the library's

i looked on the website and here's what they say about donations:

"Q: Does the library accept zine donations?
A: Yes. The zines will be evaluated, and any zines not added to our collection will be sold to benefit the library at zine events."

i'm assuming that donations would just be sent to the library:

i could be wrong about that though. :) the email address for the zine collection is bcplzines@gmail.com

we did a reading, it got a lot of press, wasn't *my* favorite night.

but more exciting to me is I just talked to Marium - the zine library is doing quete well!

My zine is checked out, Mama Says No War is checked out, Mamaphonic (the book) is checked out ....

theres a lot of interest in the zines. Marium said she was talking to a mama who was newly divorced and feeling pitiful .. and she dirrected her to the mama zine section.

ANY way , its just good to hear, all these mama zines are checked out on its first week open!

very cool! we should all be
