TheWholeMom.com--Submissions WantedHi all. I'm a bit embarassed to admit that I've been a lurker now for (according to the lovely site stats) about 29 weeks or so. In my defence, I've been very busy. We sold our house and moved, and then once things started settling down again, I up and made a webzine (together with a good friend of mine). The first issue went out in November, and I meant to post about it here, but it barely made it out before the deadline as it was. Then it was the holiday season--anyway, you know what I mean. All the while juggling appointments and doctors in the Never-Ending Quest to Diagnose Frances. BUT. The point is, I have a lovely little webzine out that's called TheWholeMom.com, and the second issue is coming out Feb 15th. Submissions always welcome, etc. My goal is to create a webzine about mothers as people, because as everyone here knows, motherhood changes everything, but that doesn't mean that everything about you is related to the tasks of mothering. Yet when you look in the mainstream media, you see two kinds of publications: mother's magazines (which are mostly about the tasks of mothering--diapering, feeding, discipline, housework, etc.) or women's magazines (which can be about anything else, but the basic premise of the articles in those publications is that you are a woman without responsibilities). There is a lack of publications dedicated to publishing articles of all kinds for mothers (or women who want to be mothers) that aren't about mothering. I don't claim this thought is original, only that this is my answer to it. Here is our About Us page, where you can find out about our mission statement and read what kinds of pieces we're looking for, if you're interested. http://thewholemom.com/Files/Administrative/Nov_15_05_AboutUs.html If you have something you'd like to send me, I'd love to see it (andrea@athenadreaming.org or andrea@thewholemom.com). It's nice to see so many familiar faces around here still. I really, really hope to be a regular participant around here again.
