American Idol

Okay ladies, time for you pop culture lovers to come out of the closet. Who's watching this show with me? Tell me I'm not the only one!

My opinion at this point? I think it should (not that it necessarily WILL, but SHOULD) come down between Fantasia and George Huff. The rest of the people kind of suck to various degrees.

Aaaaahhhhh, sweet, sweet brain candy.

Love it

I'm with you. And I'm torn between LaToya and Fantasia.

Last night, while I was nursing EG (my daughter) to sleep, while LaToya was singing her disco song, EG unlatched and craned her head to watch. She was asleep by Fantasia, so I couldn't get her take on the whole competition. :)

The next few weeks will be interesting, as will tonight, since I haven't seen who's kicked off yet...

My daughter Loves American Idol

I couldn't take it last year, but this year sometimes I watch it with her and its kinda bonding - to comment on people and stuff.

I don't know all who your talking about - but I know who Fantasia is, yep she is good.

I have a theory about that mean judge. Whats his name. F**k! I can't remember. I used to really hate him. But now he reminds me of a childhood song my daughter had on this tape of old folk songs, clapping songs, like Wishbone Wishbone by Taj Mahal. There was this one song that asked you what you wanted to be up when you grew up. Call and response. The kids voice "I want to be a doctor" the refrain "You can't be a doctor" and it would go in this sing songy way untill the kid said " I *will* be a doctor"

anyway - sometimes I think watching that judge is kinda good for my daughter - she lives through vicariously being judged. SImon! Thats his name. Sometimes he is full of shit. We root for people and talk about people. adn I think vicariously, it kind of helps you to compete in that scary way. Like my daughter did have to do a performance for this art school she wanted to go to and she bombed cuz she frooze in fear. Adn she is interested in music.

So it kinda helps you to root for the people and just suffer with them.

sorry so long winded. I am tired. My secret pleasure was "America's top Model" OMG! It was so exciting during those last days. what drama. You really got to know the characters.

you're not the only one. :)

you're not the only one. :)

but i missed it last night.

i don't know - i like jon peter, but he'll never win! not versatile enough.

So glad I'm not the only one.

Have to say that I liked him at first, but he's really been terrible the last few times. I can only remember his actual audition and his rendition of "A Little Less Conversation" (spastic dancing and all) with any real fondness. I think he's just not really going to work out unless he suddenly surprises us and sings well. It's like he has five different voices and only one of them is good. Last night might have been the worst show, yet, though. It was Motown night and they had a great band backing folks up, but there were only two really good performances (George and Fantasia). Jasmine and Latoya were okay. The rest ranged from forgettable to completely terrible (John redheaded dude did My Girl and was out of tune for the entire song. Truly terrible). Jon Peter sang better than last week, but still pretty terribly. And he did this butt dance thing that was really just uncomfortable to watch. I think that Camille is going to be voted out tonight - though she was better than usual. Still pretty bad, though. But last night it came to me that I might actually buy a cd put out by Fantasia and I have NEVER considered that idea about any of the previous AI's.

Nothing is real until it is recorded.
