go see Waitress!

Waitress
Written and directed by mama Adrienne Shelly.

If I get my way :) this movie will become this year's word-of-mouth indie film with legs, the way "My Big Fat Wedding" was. (Not that I have even seen that movie, and not to say that these films are similar - I just mean that that was something that no one really expected to be such a big hit, but because of word-of-mouth among largely female audiences, it was a huge success.)

Sweet, funny, poignant, with a terrific cast and great script. And a nice summer alternative to the blockbusters. (Bleah.)

Entertainment Weekly review

Seeing the movie is bittersweet because Shelly was murdered before the film was released. Her family has started a foundation to support female filmmakers:

Anyway, so begins my one-woman campaign. :)
