where do you go for your daily news?

Hey mamas,

Where do you go to find out what's happening in the world? What newspapers, magazines, websites, etc., do you go to?

Being a mama with her head in the clouds a lot of the time, I realize I have no idea where people go for their daily/weekly/regular news fix. And now, of course, I'm working on something that requires that I at least have *some* idea of how people other than me are perceiving current events.

(I'm looking for things that would have headlines and archives, esp. mainstream news sources with a wide circulation, not blogs or livejournals or myspaces (if there even are myspace pages for the news))

Yep. I have a feed of the

Yep. I have a feed of the front & international page from the BBC (which frequently covers stuff the next feed doesn't), the national news from the New York Times, and the local news from one of the local rags.

I set them up in my bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com) online rss aggregator & can scan headlines easily then go to the article if I'm pulled in with the teaser. Allows me to scan a lot more than I would otherwise have either time or patience to review. It says blogs, & I set a bunch of those up to follow as well, but it's really helpful for news and other major sites as well. I love it. :)

i find a lot of good things

i find a lot of good things at www.commondreams.org, or www.truthout.org. both offer similar things and take stories from across the world from a variety of sources with links to get to the original source and author. they're both really good places to start i think, if you want to get a run-down of daily happenings around the world.
