What's 'book page'?

When I go to 'create content', one of the choices is 'book page'. Now this sounds fascinating if it's what I think. Does it mean we all get to write a book like a chain story? Or am i waaay off base?

Hey, go to http://siprelle.com/mamaphonic/node/view/205 & see what I've started. :) I haven't had a lot of time to poke around because I'm in graduate school & life is crazy crazy between school work and the kids. :)

"In the beginning there was the book, and the book inspired and angered others to write books, and when the people could no longer cope with all the books they had created, they begat libraries, and the Lord said, "I don't know what else we can do."

uh oh, what did i do?!

i tried to "edit" the test page you set up, and now it seems to have disappeared...or at least i can't see it. oops! :)

which sucks because now no one else can try to play around with it. bah! but i guess it's good to figure this stuff out now...i suppose that's what a testing page is for, eh?

i just don't know what i did wrong. ???

can't figure this out!

Susan, help! now the second test page has disappeared, and when i tried to create a new one, nothing happens. (it *looks* like it's working - will preview fine and everything, but after clicking on "submit" i can't find it under "books" or "recent posts." so if it's there, i don't have access to see it. can anyone else see it?)

(and i don't see a "delete" button in edit mode, so i don't think that's what i'm doing. ;) that must be admin only already.)

Weird. I can see it in admin

Weird. I can see it in admin, but I can't make it show up.... Oohhhh... hmm... Ok -- when you're looking at it, do you have top box options like "publish" or "revise" etc? I looks like your revisions are revised but not also "published".

I think when I have a moment (probably tomorrow or the next day), I should make a registered user account for me so I can test as a user rather than trying to guess what shows up when I have admin privs. :) (Duh! I know...).

We're GETTING CLOSER! We're gonna be old pros at this sooner or later! :)

Hey -- I might have to approve the changes somewhere. So if it disappears again, don't fret! I'll check back in & see if the approval button will publish the change!

nope, i have no "revise" or "

nope, i have no "revise" or "publish" buttons. i do see the test page (take 3) now, so you must have approved it (or something). that seems like kind of a pain for you to have to approve every revision, though.

absolutely no time pressure, just something it'd be nice to figure out someday. :)

What do you think of my alias

What do you think of my alias? Is it *me*? ;)

Note to self: NO POKING YET! Homework first.

I check in daily or near dail

I check in daily or near daily (unless I'm out of town), even if I don't always comment, so maybe part of the book faq can just be to send me a pm if a change was made so I can click the little button and make it go zoom. On the one hand, the admin authorization *does* prevent trolls from coming in and totally decimating something too. We'll keep plugging away at it. :)

I'll get me a regular user account too as soon as I don't have a deadline breathing down my neck, so I can see what's going on from the user end of things... shoulda done it long before now!
