New here.

I'm a mama, but I no longer know if I can claim the term artist mama. I used to write, sing, paint, and even mess around on guitar. Now, I wipe up poop, and barely find time to breathe, let alone create, but I want to get back in the swing of things.

This seems like a good place to draw some strength from.
I used to be on the HM and MT boards, but lurked mor ethan I posted. I think I'll jump in more here.

I'm new here, I'm just joined

I'm new here, I'm just joined from hipmama, some of you might know me over there as izzy. Anyhow, I completely empathize, I dabble in a little everything as well, guitar, poetry, songwriting, painting. My creative juices were at a standstill, but the more I get used to the motherhood thing, the more it's coming back to me. My little girl is 14 months now and now when I play music she shakes some morracas I got her, so it's easing me back in.

I can relate

After I had my first child, I thought I would never get back to writing, but just this past January, poems starting leaping from me. It takes a while and it takes a lot of patience not to get angry about it.

If you can manage to find 30 minutes a day wherein you don't do laundry or pick up toys, that will be enough to get you started. Journal for starters then work up from there. If you're staying at home with your kids, you need this time (if not more!). Demand it. I've found mine at lunch (I work full-time) and it took me a while, but I'm back to the place I was long ago and stronger than ever.

Welcome and feel free to jump in, to share whatever you're thinking of working on, to get some inspiration to either create or make time for yourself. All that good stuff.
