tips, suggestions and plain old bossy advice requested

Hi there,
so I am trying to get a zine started again, the last one I had was in high school and was filled with poetry about my unrequited crushes and articles about how my hometown sucked. Anyway I am having a bit of a hard time getting something new started with all of these questions flying around in my head. How do you zine mamas promote your zines? Do you do all the work yourself? Do you get them printed or just do the photocopying? Do you do all the writing yourself?

hmm, sounds like maybe I just need a kick in the ass?

thanks.

hi mama! :)

i think some of your questions have been addressed here fairly recently, but you can't necessarily tell from the topic headings, so lemme see if i can do some link-a-roonies for you...

on getting started in general, layout, etc.:
how did all of you get started?
I want to publish a zine. What do I do?

about doing all the writing yourself or not - as a wildly unsubstantiated guess, i would say that over half of us who frequent mamaphonic use multiple contributors, but there are at least a few who only include their own writing. (miranda and mom time come to mind... who am i missing?) if you do decide you want to get writers, here's a thread about that:

for general info, you'll definitely want to check out susan's zine creation bibliography page!

have i overwhelmed you yet? :) and of course, please feel free to ask if you have specific questions that haven't been touched on here. good luck and let us know how it's going!
