first audition

ok...so i've never auditioned for a real play before. i did high school and some college plays, but never something like this. sure it is community theatre but still...it's been ages for me.
the local theater is doing "angels in america part 1" and i actually picked up a script and am reading it. whether or not i'll actually go so far as auditioning, who knows...
but i am nervous. i have a dumb question. alot of the roles are played by the same actor and well...does anyone know if this was supposed to be played by all males originally? i don't want to look like an idiot being the only female showing up...you would think that if that were the case, they wouldn't have given me the script.

i love Angels in America!!! and happen to be reading it right now...coincidence?
yeh, i think you're question has been answered but the actress playing hannah, also plays rabbi and ethel rosenthal
harper is harper (fantastic role!)
and the other woman plays the nurse emily, the baglady and other roles.
in the film meryl streep and emma thompson played all the other roles. and belize was played by the same actor who plays mr.lies
i hope you get in!

oh man, that's such a brilliant play. good luck! :)

nope, there are at least a couple (3 maybe?) female parts. yes, each actress plays more than one character - except maybe harper? if i'm remembering right. i could pull out the book and look, but i'm too lazy at the moment. :D so you're all good.
