Privacy

Hey. I thought one of the perks of changing over to this new format was supposed to be not finding our posts all over the web...but they are still there on google. New posts. Was I mistaken? Thanks.

there's a couple of older threads about this:

1) my profile shows up in google

2) Privacy and Mamaphonic - especially Susan's post near the bottom that begins "This is a public site and in..."

i don't remember hearing that more privacy was an advantage of this new format - but i could be wrong. i have a terrible memory.

oh...

while re-reading those old threads i think i see what you were remembering (maybe?) - that the option to keep one's email address private was not do-able on the old board, but it is on this format. was that it? (of course if we decide to post our email addresses in the *body* of a post, then all bets are off.)

This particular CMS doesn't leave your email address out all over the web to be harvested by spammers -- in that sense it's more private; however, yes -- we're still crawled by search spiders & bots so our content does show up in search engines.
