Mama Songs CD

For those who have recorded, how much did you pay for studio time? I'm putting out a CD called Mama Songs:

I have everything written and all my co-writers and co-singers and musicians set up. We're trying to work out a schedule for getting it recorded since everybody works at various jobs and stuff. I've been checking around Cleveland and have gotten such a variance in quotes for studio time! Some want you to buy a block of time, some go by the hour, some are pre-paid, some bill you after.



What's reasonable?



What questions should I be asking?



What should my studio time include?



Any advice or comments welcome!

I'm not a music-maker, although it's a long-time dream of mine, but I wanted to post and show some support for such an interesting project. Your creativity and productivity is always amazing and inspiring.

I wanted to point you towards the Simple Machines website, and their Mechanic's guide for putting out indie records:

They're a well-known group of female indie musicians who owned their own record label for a while and now put a lot of energy and time into recording and helping out indie musicians. Maybe some of your questions can be answered there.
