DIY: the rise of lo-fi culture by Amy Spencer

Hay, so I did this email interview with her a long time ago and it sounded like a cool project and today I found out: tada The Book is here. And I'm in it, under the mama zine section.

I think its pretty awesome, A+ for heart; really tries to put alot of information into perspective, defines zines more than I think about. my quotes (two and a half pages) are unedited email response. I think there good but I wish I edited myself. Ayun halliday has a very nice interveiw in it.

there is some cool quotes in it, for sure, gives a bit of a historical base to it all. But it does seem a bit disorganized in a way ---I didn't see anything on alot of anarchist and basic punk zines though ... that whole genre seems to be missing (although she talks about punk alot): profane existence, the shadow, that berkly anarchist paper, kick it over, slug and lettuce, ect. ect. ... all of it. (of course MRR is in it) but i'm not done reading. So unless I'm sketchy, its thorough .. but not all inclusive. there could have been more editing. still it seems its gathered alot of stuff in a way not done before.

anyway, I'm reading ... myself. crazy! not trying to be ego-tistical, just sharing, ok?
