Don't ghettoize me, puuuhlleeeeeaze!

So, any movie mamas out there? I'm a graduate film student mama to one gorgeous nearly 9 month old daughter looking for adviceencouragementideassupportstories about how you're making it work. Not only that, but if you're making it work in the industry at-large. Don't get me wrong. I love being part of women's festivals, but I don't want my artmaking to be relegated to those places, and not seen by a wider audience.

Please watch my friend's short film!

My old high school buddy and junior prom date Eric has a new film out - he was the first person to win Sundance with a digital film when he entered his animated feature to DJ Q-bert's cd "Wavetwisters", and does great political music videos and films. You can also check out his work on www.erichenry.com -enjoy!

Greetings!

I have recently completed a satirical, animated short film called “Pirates and Emperors (or, Size Does Matter) which offers a biting critique of U.S. imperialism (think: Noam Chomsky meets Schoolhouse Rock).

ms. films - movies by independent women (org & film fest)

www.msfilms.org

from the website:
"What is Ms. Films exactly? Ms. Films activities include a flagship festival in February (3 days of screenings, workshops, panels, and projects with women filmmakers), as well as various screenings, workshops, and fundraiser events throughout the year.

Why Ms. Films?
The mission of Ms. Films is to promote the work of women in film, both by giving independent women filmmakers a venue to showcase their work, and by giving women the tools they need to start making film.

The number of films made by women in movie theaters, film festivals, and on TV are significantly less than the number of films made by men. Ms. Films is a non-profit, all volunteer-run organization that attempts to address this gap with a multi-facted approach.

++A.I.R. Vallauris: Residency Opportunity for Film Makers during the Cannes Film Festival.

A.I.R. Vallauris is a non-profit artist in residency program in the south of France, situated 15 minutes from Cannes. The intent of our program is to provide an environment for visiting artists that offers the opportunity to research and create new work and to meet and collaborate with local artists.

We recently submitted a post in the notices section of the IFP website about a residency opportunity that we are making available as of this year for Filmmakers. Each April/May we will reserve up to 4 residency slots for filmmakers. Residents will create locally and then present their project at the end of the 2 month period (screening etc).
