New Editor Redux

Unfortunately Jennifer has had to resign due to busy lifeness. We will miss her, she's been a good editor at HipMama & I was looking forward to working with her here as well. Jennifer, stop by & keep in touch!

What this means is that Stacey Greenberg, our very own staleyg, is stepping into co-editing Mamaphonic with me with the publication of her most *excellent* knitterview! < wild muppet applause > So send in your work so Stacey has something to do! We have had lots of poetry lately (must've been the spring influence?), so we're looking for more short story pieces fictional or otherwise, and more about balancing creativity & motherhood. But if you have a poem, we'd be happy to take a look at it too.

I'm pleased to announce that I'll be sharing editorial responsibilities now with Jennifer who is also an editor over at HipMama. From her bio on the about us page:

The community is the most important part of this site, and I'd like to surround you all with stuff that makes you feel welcome, that helps you out, and inspires you to do your thing whatever it is...

So, poke around here. What potential do you see? What's bogging this place down? (Yes, I know I have some empty things -- at some point I need to move the archives from the old html formatting to the CMS we're in now... they're place-savers as well as spaces for new content...).

It is with sadness that I say Shaolin has stepped down from producing Mamaphonic to pursue her writing and real world responsibilities and is rejoining the Mamaphonic "civilian" ranks.

I suppose this is also the point at which I get to announce that I am the new executive producer. Bee has a folder of stuff that she's sending me for the real voices section so we should have new content shortly!

hello, i'm new and wanted to say hi to the wonderful people who seem to exist on this site. I started to enjoy writing not but two years ago when I retook an english class that i dropped four years before. i've come here to be inspired, to learn and practice writing. I find it hard to write if I don't have some sort of deadline or an authority figure giving me a writing distination. I would like to write more on a whim. On other forums I wouldn't feel able to write how i felt, i want to feel comfortable and able to say what the hell I want.

Hi-
I'm going to try this again- I was on briefly a long time ago (well, it seems a long time ago), and I think that I'm ready to write again.
My name's Kat (hence the original screen name). I'm 23 and have a two year old daughter, Zoe. I'm on girlmom, and am working on several different projects right now- a 'zine, some esseys (beyond school ones that is), and a project that's hard for me to catagorize right now.
I used to write a lot- before I got pregnant. And, when I became pregnant, I stopped writing, except in journals.
I've started writing again, but the process is so difficult for me to work through, so it's frustraiting. Plus, it's really hard to find time (welcome to up writing at two in the morning because I just need to get it out of me!).

When's the Gathering ala HipMama????

Welcome to the new, more stable boards! Hopefully these will soon feel as much like home as our old boards, without the continual wondering if the programming is going to go bug-crap at any second.

There may be some down-time when we actually move the dns over to this server, but we'll be right back as soon as we can. We'll let you know when we're a little closer to the time we think it'll happen, although since it's all volunteer time, things are prone to happen on the fly on occasion.
