My friend started a new forum for women. It is very non-judgmental with so far a nice small group of really awesome women. There are tons of different religious forums from atheists & agnostics, pagans, Judaism, Christian, ect. There are domestic violence support boards, birth groups (such as Moms of 2002 babies), Eating disorders, dealing with depression, cancer support - ALL KINDS of womens topics.

Hi Gals,

Question-

How do you define sustainability?
Also, does sustainability relate to art and artmaking and if so, how?

If anyone has any ideas to contribute I would so appreciate it. I am working on developing the art curriculum for a charter school and this is something that I'm trying to sort through in my head. Thanks!

A bit of word help, s'il vous plait.

Is there a word that describes the texture of a piece of paper that has been wet and then has dried? You know, when it is no longer smooth, but has that water-damaged feeling? (I am looking for something more specific than "water damage.")

I'm thinking of submitting a proposal for an article to an academic journal. I'm not really familiar with how to write proposals for academic journals and thought I'd look on their website for some clues.

Their guidelines for submitting complete manuscripts (as opposed to proposals) state that I have to write on my cover page:

"This is a draft copy of a manuscript submitted to XXX Journal. If it is accepted for publication, the copyright will be assigned to the publisher, XYZ University Press."

Been re-reading a bunch of my Madeleine L'Engle books & came across this. Sums everything about this place up in one neat & tidy package (although the process itself can be most unneat & untidy!).

After months and months of not trying to get anything into print, I've finally quit my soulsucking, time-gorging job and am trying to get back in the swing of things. I want to submit a query to a magazine about writing a reportback about the Social Forum. Because it's a somewhat-timely article, I want to be able to ask another magazine fairly quickly if the first one isn't interested.

Is there a standard polite way to ask them to let me know ASAP if they are

I mean thats like....Two years I have been working on this, and its a compilation of my zine - The Future Generation - of the last 17 years.... and it just seems like such a funny little price, to put all my heart and soul into. Its so possible. LIKE you can order one, and its really great, really.... I promise you. Its worth it! I am happy with how it all came out finally... and you can have one. And maybe someone can buy one, and discard it one day (silly them) and then it will go to a used bookstore, and like 20 years later, somebody might pick up this old zine book for a few dollars and take it home - and love it. and wonder about me. Well I took two years to study writing formally. I enjoyed it, I honestly did. Then I thought I'd have a go at the law entry exam, as I'd always wanted to study law. I enjoyed family and criminal but the rest bored the pants off me. So I have first year law behind me and 2007 has started which means uni goes back in 6 weeks and I don't think my heart is in it, but everyone keeps telling me how lucky I am to have got a government supported place, (which only means I get to pay them around 50G when I start working full-time to cover what they paid for me).
