Keeping them entertained

My three daughters absolutely love the Kidz Bop CDs. We always listen to them in the car and I just found out that Kidzbop.com is playing the new CD on their website on July 20th before it’s in stores. These CDs are a complete lifesaver, especially for long trips. They just sit in the car and attempt to sing along. It’s quite adorable! You have to register, but its completely free, so check it out and see if your kids like it as much as mine do.

Any thoughts on the new Laurie Berkner

Has anyone been paying attention to the new Laurie Berkner? I've been reading a lot about the DVD ("We Are the Laurie Berkner Band") on like kidsmusic.about.com and even Billboard had a news blurb a while back and I have to say I'm interested.
We watch her a lot on noggin and she is really good at striking a balance between kids music and rock.

I got this video clip from her website if anyone's interested. http://mfile.akamai.com/2851/wmv/razntie.download.akamai.com/2851/berkner/video/buzzbuzz.asx

DIY punk

Right now, dd and I are listening to snippets of World Inferno Friendship Society off the Internet. I just saw them today at the DIY community arts center I volunteer at (after not seeing them since my childless days) and they're still awesome.

dd didn't want to go into the show space, even with her earplugs in so she stayed upstairs and played with someone else while I took pictures and danced on a crate. (Yeah, I can be silly)

What's your baby listening to?

When I posted this on the old forums, my baby was really a baby, now he's almost three and his varying tastes in sound still fascinate. We're not listening to music these days, sadly. So E really digs music from kiddie shows (BArney, Blue, Sagwa) or commericals. E loves hip hop sound bytes best. He digs the drums. And he likes loud guitars. Probably because mom and dad play. (Sigh) What a sad commentary from a musician mom...my boy's listening to commercials...

Jonathan Elias- soft listening

hello ladies-

Music is an extremely important part of my life, so want to share with you a writer and composer, who creates beautiful music--music that can be truly defined as "music". Though I've just learned of him, Jonathan Elias has been creating memorable tunes for a long time, writing music for films, television, and advertising (like Microsoft, yahoo!, Nike, Back to the Future, etc.). I bring him to your attention because his cd is a refreshing break from the superficial pop music and becomes it helps me write. "American River" is a meaningful and symbolic album as it represents rebirth and renewal; the music suggests a long transformation as we float with Jonathan Elias down the American River, where the river represents our history-sometimes emotionally dark and somber, sometimes hopeful and of unimaginable beauty.

What are you listening to today?

Two new (to me anyway) c-ds that I am completely loving - Ryan Adams' Heartbreaker -country album- pre-rock and roll and Parker Posey - sounds a little like Hank Williams, a little like Bob Dylan - great lyrics. Great voice. Really loving it.

Also loving Loretta Lynn's newest - Van Lear Rose. Jack White produced and plays on it and it's fantastic. I was a big fan of Loretta's even before this album - and it's amazing to hear new stuff that she actually wrote. Best songs are "Portland, OR" where she duets with Jack and "High on the Mountain Top" - which sounds like some awesome singalong hootenanny.

because i have to brag about the pixies!

x-posted from LJ/manic panic...the world muist know 'i've got no lips i've got no tongue'
we got there at about 7 and stood in line for half an hour or so. they let us in at 7:30. we went straight upstairs cause we wanted to get a seat, and the venue is 90% standing room. if you know me, i can't see shit stading on the floor. i wanted to get a great view. there is one row of stools on the balcony looking over the stage. and so close! we got our seats, and i only got up to pee once during the opening, i was so freaked i'd have my seat stolen. i fucken hate red's, that place licks. it was hard to hear any of the banter between songs (though it was few and far between). the sound sucks.
